The magnetic pole of the earth has been shifting a lot more lately than what is normally expected. Lately I've been hearing, and this video confirms some of the shifting, that it's up to 1-2 miles per day! This is huge.
So why is this happening?
Here's the deal, when a magnet is heated up the magnetic field loses field strength - so a hotter magnet is a weaker magnet. Well lately the magnetic core of the earth is heating up much hotter causing our magnetic field to weaken even more significantly. This weakening magnetic field appears to be related to the movement of the point of magnetic north which is thus shifting much more rapidly. So we're talking about a movement of magnetic north by 300 miles per year and now increasing towards more like 700 miles per year!
So what does this mean?
A weakening magnetic field and this shifting of magnetic north may be notice of what's to come (ie a pole shift). Now this doesn't mean a pole shift will happen right away...
Additionally a lower intensity magnetic field around the earth leaves us more vulnerable to intense solar cycles and may be leading to less absorption of solar heat by the earth.
